Scope and field of application
PS-236N and PS-236K electric switch machines for switches with a continuous tread surface fully comply with the technical requirements of TU 32 ELT 122-19. They are designed for switching in repeating temporary mode, position locking and control of switches with inseparable throw of switch points, as well as movable crossings with a continuous tread surface.
PS-236N electric switch machines are installed on switches along with external locking that ensures switch points are interlocked with stock rails when the throw rod is in end positions. The switch points are held in place in their open positions with the help of coupler bars between them.
The PS-236K electric switch machine is mounted on the frog along with an external locking that ensures the movable crossing is interlocked with frog wing rails when the throw rod is in end positions.
Electric switch machine design
The electric switch machine includes a welded steel cover with a silicone foam seal on the flanges and side ears with captive pentagon-headed bolts that
attach it to the casing.
A locking mechanism foreseen within the housing protects the lift-up protective housing from blowing open under aerodynamic loads whenever rolling stock passes by.

- The electric switch machine cover has a silicone foam seal on the flanges. Additionally, there is an adjustable ventilation valve installed on the inside.
- The reinforced detector rod of the SP-12K electric switch machine has an additional length-adjustment mechanism which simplifies the process of adjusting the positioning of lock bars during operation.
- Safety contacts based on micro switches.
- Wire bundles for the automatic contact knife switch and autotripper based on sensors with magnetically controlled sealed contacts.
- The guide plate design foresees self-lubricating ceramic metal elements for the throw rod and detector rods; the electric switch machine casing also has a built-in ceramic metal replaceable support bar for the throw rod.
- The autotripper rollers use wear-resistant ceramic metal materials.
