These jumpers are made with a cable in a shell, which has been extruded from PVC plastic. They are used in reverse traction rail networks to provide the following:
- continuity of the traction current and heating current (within the feeder zone) ducts and stable supply of electricity to electric rolling stock;
- operation of signalling and ATP track circuits;
- reliable short-circuit protection in the traction power supply system;
- electrical safety requirements;
- regulatory requirements regarding traction current leaks and protection against galvanic corrosion of underground metal structures;
- protection against corrosion;
- significant reduction in leakage currents.
