Scope and field of application

These connectors ensure rail traffic and operation safety in reverse rail networks by conducting alternating or direct current electric traction. Sealed in a shell, they are used in reverse traction rail networks to provide the following:

• continuity of the traction current and heating current (within the feeder zone) ducts and stable supply of electricity to electric rolling stock; 
• operation of signalling and ATP track circuits;
• reliable short-circuit protection in the traction power supply system;
• electrical safety requirements;
• regulatory requirements regarding traction current leaks and protection against galvanic corrosion of underground metal structures;
• significant reduction in leakage currents.
